November 8, 2016 (Toronto, ON) - The American Embassy in Canada hosted a US Presidential Election watch party at Daniel’s Spectrum in Toronto on November 8, 2016. Donald Trump won the election to become the 58th President or the United States of America.

July 22-23, 2016 (Toronto, ON) - Canada’s largest South Asian Festival returned to Mississauga Celebration Square featuring headliners Aishwarya Nigam, Sanchari Bose and Bishakh Jyoti. Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie was on hand to celebrate the diverse sights, sounds and foods of India and South Asia.

July 21, 2016 (Toronto, ON) - Bollywood Monster Mashup hosted volunteers, performers and local municipal representatives including Mayor Bonnie Crombie at the VIP gala at C Banquetsl at Mississauga City Centre. The event featured a sneak preview from headlining acts Sanchari Bose, Bishakh Jyoti and Aishwarya Nigam.

Canada's 42nd general election in 2015 was the longest in Canadian history.

The main contending parties were represented by Justin Trudeau (Liberal Party), Stephen Harper (Conservative Party), Thomas Mulcair (New Democratic Party) and Elizabeth May (Green Party).

Here are some photos of the NDP and Liberal Party campaigns leading up to Canada's 42nd general election.

 

Oct 4, 2015 (Brampton, ON)

Justin Trudeau at the Liberal Party rally at Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario.  Over 7,000 supporters attended the rally in one of Canada's most ethnically diverse cities.

October 13, 2015 (Brampton, ON)

Thomas Mulcair of the NDP party made an appearance at Harbaljit Singh Kahlon's campaign office in Brampton East riding.   Also present were NDP deputer leader Jagmeet Singh, Brampton West candidate Adaoma Patterson and Brampton Centre candidate Rosemary Keenan.

October 18, 2015 (Toronto, ON)

On the eve of the the Federal election, Thomas Mulcair visited the University-Rosedale riding of Jennifer Hollett.

The Ontario visit was capped by the NDP rally at Westin Harbour Castle Conference Centre in Toronto.  On hand were many NDP candidates including Olivia Chow, Jennifer Hollet and NDP deputy leader Jagmeet Singh Kahlon.

 

October 19, 2015 (Toronto, ON)

68% of eligible Canadian voters voted a majority Liberal party government in the longest campaign in Canadian history. 

The 338 seats were won as follows:

184 seats     - Liberal Party

99 seats      - Conservative Party

44 seats      - NDP Party

10 seats       - Bloc Quebecois Party

1 seat           - Green Party
