Zak's Golden Acceleration
August 14, 2015 (Toronto, Canada) - Canadian star athlete Zak Madell speeds into the end zone to score a goal in the gold medal wheelchair rugby match against USA at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games. Zak Madell was an unstoppable force throughout the tournament and was brilliant in the gold medal match where he scored 34 goals in the thrilling 57-54 victory.
At the age of 10, Zak Madell lost his fingers and legs due to a septic staph infection. This did not stop Madell from pursuing athletics as he participated in sledge hockey and wheelchair basketball before discovering his calling in wheelchair rugby. Madell was selected to be Team Canada flagbearer at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am closing ceremonies.
